NibblerAbout Nibbler
Nibbler is our free tool for testing websites. It's still in Alpha, which means not everything is working properly yet.
What does Nibbler do?
It takes a web address you provide, tries to find up to 5 pages from inside it, and tests them for a range of criteria. At the end you get a free report scoring the website out of 10 for various tests, and awarding a 'Summary score' for all the tests.
Is it free?
Yes. Nibbler is 100% free. We hope that a small percentage of the people who like using it will consider upgrading to SiteRay, and that's how we pay to build and support it.
What does "alpha" mean?
Alpha comes before Beta, and basically means "this is very rough, stuff may break, we're still working on it". We've made it available now as we think it's useful, but don't expect it to be glitch free yet!
I want to test more than 5 pages!
You should take a look at SiteRay, our commercial tool for testing websites.
How does Nibbler differ from SiteRay?
Nibbler has an intentionally more 'fun' design, and is intended to give quick reports on interesting if superficial criteria. It only tests up to 5 pages, which you can't select yourselves. Reports are very easy to create and understand.
SiteRay is designed to give professional, commercial reports and can test many more pages (tens of thousands), has far more tests and options. It is slower to use (reports can range from a few minutes to a few hours to run) but a lot more detailed. SiteRay is particularly well designed for web design and marketing companies who are selling to their clients, and larger organisations with a substantial web presence.
What user agent does Nibbler use?
Nibbler uses "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090824 Firefox/3.5.3" for all requests
